"Bridget Brown is a successful young woman who captures the attention of everyone she meets with her vitality and confidence. Bridget was the first person with Down Syndrome to be included in her school district. She is a national public speaker and shares tools and strategies she used to be successfully included. She also is a person centered planning coach and works with young adults with disabilities to help them find their own voice. In addition to her workshops and keynote speaking engagements, Bridget also works as part of a grant through the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities. She helps young adults with disabilities learn how to present at their own IEP meetings, set goals, and speak with self determination.
Nancy Brown often presents nationally with her daughter. They specialize in coaching participants in person centered planning, transition, and adaptations and accommodations in inclusive classrooms. Nancy believes that all students should have access to the general education curriculum. Nancy has had over 30 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Butterflies for Change offers a variety of workshops and training programs for parents and educators. Their services include keynote speeches, workshops and one-on-one counseling and representation tailored to specific audiences. Participants will learn how Nancy and Bridget’s journey developed and leave with a toolkit of strategies and tools that will assist families, school personnel, and communities on their own journeys into full and inclusive lives."
